Truck hijackings remain a great cause of concern for the transport industry. The majority of trucks are hijacked for their loads, with many trucks and/or trailers recovered shortly thereafter.
Globaltrack’s fleet telematics is an important measure in combating crime. We continuously invest in developing products and features that are designed to save clients cost and increase operational efficiency of their business.
Our driver behaviour monitoring solutions are designed to minimise the stress and challenges associated with the transport sector. The safety and security measures to protect the drivers are panic buttons, driver tags with immobilisers and customised security notifications.
The panic buttons are available as wired or wireless buttons. The wired panic button is discretely located inside the vehicle; a driver can press it to alert the control room of impending danger. Alternatively, a wireless panic button is given to the driver to move around with and can be detected within 150 meters of the vehicle.
The driver tags can be installed with an immobiliser relay that prevents the vehicle from being started without it being tagged.
If a vehicle has an impact sensor installed, it will detect any impact, by generating an “impact detect on” or “impact detect off ” event. This informs the fleet operator of any accidents or possible obstruction of the vehicle.
Vehicles that travel on designated routes, and areas are geofenced with not only entry or exit notifications, but also speed and time limits can be monitored to ensure that drivers remain on schedule on the assigned routes within the correct speed limit. This feature is important as this could indicate a hijacking or abuse of the vehicle by the driver. With our “trailer connect/disconnect” and “tipper on/off” sensors, clients will receive an immediate alert in the event of the load being hijacked.
