Founded in 2001, Globaltrack is the leading service provider of Cross-Border vehicle tracking solutions’ within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. What makes our product and service offering unique is that we believe in providing African Solutions for African challenges.
One of the current challenges that transporters are faced with are the waiting times at Zimbabwe’s borders, following the amendment of ZIMRA’s legislation to improve the management of transit cargo. Mr Pieter Smits CEO of Globaltrack and board member of Federation of Eastern and Southern Road Transport Associations (FESARTA) have made it a priority to find alternative routes to decrease the waiting times for transporters travelling along the North-South and Beira Corridor.
The alternative routes that look like viable options are as follows:
Travelling from Johannesburg to Zambia you can go through Botswana via the Martin’s Drift or Groblersbrug border post and the Kazungula border where vehicles are transported via the ferry. The ferry operates between the border posts at Kazungula Zambia and Kasane Botswana and is one of the largest ferries in South Central Africa crossing the 400 m wide Zambezi River and has a capacity of 70 tons. To avoid possible delays at the Kazungula border, transporters can go through Namibia by using the Ngoma border post and Katima Mulilo border into Zambia.
Transporters transporting goods from Mozambique to Zambia can go through the Chaninda Border. The Chaninda border post is situated north of Thequesse and borders Mozambique and Zambia.
